Denyse Schmidt Love

Denyse Schmidt has long been one of my favorite designers! I love the vintage inspired twist to her modern designs. And I really love that all her lines go with one another!!
There is a DS Doll Quilt Swap over on Flickr dedicated to making mini quilts with only her fabrics. I joined in round four of the swap. This is a blind swap, so you know who you’re sewing for and you get to stalk them. But you don’t know who’s sewing for you! I was asked to sew for Synn! I was super excited because we are online buds and also intimidated because she is AMAZING!! She made me this pillow last year and I love it:) I decided I would make her a miniature Designer Star! Here it is:

I really worked hard to have nice quilting on this one!

And I used one of my favorite Shelburne Falls prints for the back! It tied together all the colors on the front.

My little label:)

When I posted to Instagram, Synn was an early comment! I was thrilled!

And then she posted when she got it!

Altogether a great success! Now onto what I received! There was a minor snafu and I got two!! I feel terrible because this means someone is still waiting on theirs to arrive:( I offered to angel so we will see if they need me! But I so appreciate what I received.
First up, from Sam. I love this little beauty! It has some of my favorite prints:) And that binding was the perfect choice!!

And then this one from Cara! Also full of some of my favorite prints. Plus some lovely hand quilting! And hexies!! I love hexies:)

I’m in love with the label!!

These puppies are already hanging up in my studio! I’m mailing out a bunch of swaps this week so standby for more swapping fun.

  1. I love the quilt you made. I really enjoy white back grounds with the brights right now. I have a question about what kind of pen you use for your labels. I have to write over my writing a few times for it to get dark enough to read. Yours looks much nicer.
    Thanks
