Color Inspirations with RJR

RJR Fabrics asked me to design a mini quilt pattern with their Cotton Supreme solids. I’d sewn with them a bit, but was excited to test out a whole quilt.

The collections were curated by Brenda of Just a Bit Frayed. She’s selected an entire year of color which translates to 12 free patterns! My pattern can be found here for download. My pattern is pretty simple using foundation piecing and I included an option for you to select your own color inspiration.

I quilted this baby on my friend’s Tiara midarm which was fun to try out.  Regulating the stitches was easier than I expected because it’s so similar to quilting on my regular machine.

If anyone is interested in making one of these, comment below and I’ll pick a winner for my scraps. I’ll choose a winner on Sunday, February 7. There is more than enough to make a mini just like this! And you can check out the other free patterns here.

  1. I love your mini and need one hanging on my sewing room wall. I would be thrilled to receive your scraps and have already downloaded the pattern. Thank for designing this block.

I would like to do this in any group of colors. I want the chance to see how it all comes together.

  2. Wow! Those fabrics and colors are gorgeous! Almost linen looking. Love to play with your scraps, especially after our paper piecing program at CLTMQG in January!

  3. I think this pattern is so effective! There are many different parts of it that stand out as I stare at it longer. The color choice is great, and the geometric lines play into it well.

  4. Oh, Lee, I would love a chance to piece my own mini with your scraps! (Is it only quilters who get so excited over someone else’s scraps? I wonder.) Thanks for sharing the pattern, which is being printed right this minute!
