Terrific Tip Tuesday: Spray the Back

It’s time for another tip! I’m a HUGE fan of starch. Generally my choice is Flatter which is a starch alternative. There are also times I’ve opted for Best Press and Niagara. Whichever you choose, spray the back and it will better penetrate the fabric. Then press from the front.

If you spray the front and immediately press on the same side, a lot of starch is lost to evaporation and sticking to your iron.

  1. Hmmm, I am going to have to try that! I have only seen Best Press, have never heard of the other ones that you mentioned :( I also notice that the seams are pressed open… Is that something that you do a lot, or does it depend on the application? Just curious…

    • I actually rarely press my seams open. These are open because it’s a Dresden so open seams work much better. I prefer to press to the side because fabric is stronger than thread.

  2. I actually know this tip . . . but I have a hard time remembering to do it! Which causes me to do it over . . . .
