Stitchfest Texas 2016

What a weekend?! I had the pleasure of teaching at Stitchfest Texas last weekend and let me just tell you, a good time was had by all! These ladies stepped it up with adorableness everywhere. They made name tags and station tags and cute shirts and so many special treats!

The other instructor was Corey Yoder of Coriander Quilts. She’s a super talented fabric designer for Moda. And she’s hilarious. You know I like funny; she’s top notch;)

The Stitchfest ladies got a ridiculous amount of swag for door prizes and a constant stream of fun gifts. Moda was the major sponsor and they were SUPER generous! I wanted to win every prize they announced.

We kicked off the weekend with a tour of Moda world headquarters! There’s Lori Hartman posing with the signature Moda tape.

I rolled fabric onto a bolt! Let’s just say that it’s harder than it looks;) And yes, I was really having that much fun!! I was only allowed to use the “slow” handle, not the “fast” foot pedal…it was for the best.

Here’s the land of sample fabric! And a motorized rotary…wow.

After Moda, we headed off to tour some local shops. This Row by Row was in Urban Spools. I grew up in Dallas so obviously I had to buy a kit (and one for The Guru!). The building outlined in lime is the building Mr Guru worked in!

Oh how I wish this adorable shop had been there when I lived there!

Next up was Not Your Mama’s Quilt Store! They laid out the red carpet with confetti!!

I’m pretty sure I need to copy this adorable All Sewn Up Kit! Hello dresden!!

Everybody on the bus!

Finally we went to Stitched with Love! I love this shop and have taught there a few times. Great to see the whole crew!!

Back at the retreat center, I taught two workshops. First up was Georgia’s Dresden. Lori made the adorable Christmas version with Cotton + Steel while Sarah used Jen Kingwell’s new Moving On lawns.

Teresa made this beauty. I was really pleased with how her backgrounds and wedges played with one another.

Joy made this stunner with Corey Yoder’s Prairie fabric.

There should always be a rainbow!

Look at all those dresdens!

We also made hats…er, clutches!

I was pretty obsessed with this cute pieced clutch made by Stephanie!

And Christina did some pretty epic fussy cutting!

Hello Liberty! This sweet combo of linen and Liberty was made by Natalie.

So many cute clutches!!

Here are the pillow covers made in Corey’s workshop.

Perhaps one of the nicest presents of the weekend. The Stitchfest girls had pieced an initial for each attendee so that we could learn big stitch quilting from Corey.

I had everyone sign my quilt. There was a Photo Booth. I had some fun there. Too much fun? Maybe.

My secret stitcher made me this amazing bag!! Are you kidding me?! So spoiled! Lori made me so many amazing presents and genuinely spoiled me.

The retreat center was just lovely!

And then it was over:(

I love my job! I feel so blessed to have been a part of such an amazing weekend. I made so many new friends and just had the best time! If you want to find out about future Stitchfest events, here’s their website.
