Meet Cased

It’s new pattern week! And also new online store week! I’m quite excited to show you lots of great new things. First up is a pattern that was born out of personal need. I like to have lots of pens on hand for doodling and such, but it makes me crazy when I can’t easily see them all. I decided that I needed a little case that would lay open for easy viewing but also quickly pack up for on the go travel! Meet Cased!

Cased1

This case is perfect for pens and stationery supplies. It also works well for a little sewing kit for class. Or a travel hexie kit! Or journaling loot! Or jewelry for a trip! Really, the options are endless.

This is another pattern in my Mini May line. These are intended to be completed in just a couple hours. It uses a hard frame clutch (you can find those here and here). I personally find the frames with screws to be a bit sturdier, but I use both!

You might be wondering what this lovely fabric is?! It’s from Alison Glass and called Seventy Six. I loved the fussy cutting opportunities and the scale is perfect for these little cases. I had to actually stop myself from fussy cutting every piece.

The pattern is available in my shop in both PDF and printed paper and coming soon to your local quilt shop! Use code FREESHIP17 for free shipping! And remember to use #casedbag on social media as you create your cased bags! Warning, you can’t make just one…

Charleston in a Clutch GIVEAWAY

revive-blog-tour-sq

Today is my stop on the Charleston Blog Tour! Charleston is a new art deco line by Revive from Timeless Treasures. I used my Clutched pattern and did some alterations to make a few different sizes. Make sure you read on for the TWO giveaway chances!!

I love art deco shapes and thought this print was perfect. The metallic is subtle and really pretty. It would make a great background for a quilt. The line is full of art deco inspired prints in blues and oranges with lots of metallic accents. You can see the full collection here.

I lined the clutches with a print with a hint of blue. There is something weddingesque about the clutches so I thought “something blue” made sense. These will be a gift for my next friend to get married;)

Clutched is written for an 8×3 hard frame. I bought a 6×3 and 4.5×3 frame to test out. I removed 2″ for the 6×3 frame and 3.5″ for the 4.5×3 frame. I buy my frames here.

I removed the inches from the center of the pattern and left everything else the same. I tested out altering the boxed corners, but ended up not altering it. I was quite happy with the shape as is.

Mini May Clutched Pattern

It’s the final highlight of the May Chappell pattern extravaganza! Today I’m showcasing my Mini May Clutched pattern. Mini Mays are a new series of patterns that are designed to be completed in a three hour class. I love teaching and one thing that I hear over and over is that students would like to leave class with a finished product. Some of the patterns will include add-ons such as embroidery or appliqué. I’m quite excited about this series and the first one is Clutched!

Clutched is a hard frame purse and includes easy to follow step-by-step directions.

I made a sample with the pattern for Tula! She was pretty excited so I was basically beside myself. That face was meant to be a clutch.

I’ve taught this class quite a few times. Here are a few made by my students.
