Y’all have probably seen my Lazy Sunday pattern. I’ve shown you a few I’ve made here and there. And now, my good friend Chrissy over at Sew Lux Fabric is hosting a quilt along.
Today, we are supposed to check in with our supplies. I’ve bought mine, does that count? They’re somewhere in the postal system in North Carolina. I’m using this cute Valentine’s bundle! I bought two and a charm pack so I could mix it up. I’m planning on using the charm pack for all the squares and then I’ll have fourteen fat quarters for the rest. It’s more than enough.
There are prizes…May Chappell patterns and Sew Lux gift certificates:) Join in the fun! And Sew Lux has layer cakes on sale today if you need one!!
Choosing fabrics is my favorite thing!! I could make stacks all day of future quilts. Unfortunately, my ability to stack yummy bundles far exceeds my sewing time! So, when my friend Chrissy of Sew Lux Fabrics asked me if I’d like to curate a blogger’s bundle, I jumped at the chance. (She actually calls them Curated Collections, which is so cute!) I spent hours finding just the right fabrics. And here it is!!
I hope y’all love it as much as I do!! Naturally, I had to create a pattern to go with it! So, the All Squared Up pattern was born! This dynamic little wall hanging uses lots of my favorite blocks: square in a square, flying geese and half square triangles. And the best part…you’ll only need seven fat quarters and 1/3 yard of background! One of the fat quarters is your binding. And you use the scraps from the front to piece the back.
The pattern is available on Craftsy! And the Curated Collection is available at Sew Lux fabrics!! And here is even more good news…if you buy the blogger’s bundle, you get the pattern for FREE! The pattern will soon be coming to a local quilt shop near you (if you live near Winston-Salem:) So be on the lookout!
Happy New Pattern Day! Could there be more soon?? Hint. Hint.
A few weeks ago, a bunch of my friends from Sew South met up for a weekend of sewing! There was lots of sewing, talking, eating, drinking, laughing and of course…the passing along of tips and ideas!! Chrissy brought a bloc loc ruler! It’s the greatest invention for trimming HST’s (half square triangles). Seriously. Greatest. Invention. Ever.
Here’s how it works…
You sew your HST. I use the method where you make two HST’s at once.
Cut them apart.
Press the seam.
And this is where the magic begins!! Place the bloc loc ruler on the HST. There’s a groove in the ruler for the 1/4″ seam. Trim.
Slide the ruler to the other edge and align the HST with the desired size of your HST.
Voila! It’s brilliant!! And makes trimming HST’s so much faster!
The ruler I got will trim sizes up to 6 1/2″. I’m going to be honest, if I’m making larger HST’s, I just trim off the flags, I don’t trim the edges:) But there is a larger bloc loc ruler available if you need it!
Chrissy and her mom have an awesome little online shop, Sew Lux where you can get the bloc loc! They have wonderful customer service and tons of other cool things that you’re going to want. Consider yourself warned;)
