Let the Scraptastic Adventure Begin

Last year, I showed you the awesomeness that is Shannon Brinkley’s scrappy appliqué. You can check out that post here. It’s possible that I still need to finish my project that I made with her, but I did baste it, so there’s that. This is it pre-basting.

I’m mentioning it because Shannon is about to offer another round of her class online. Her Scrappy Appliqué technique is great fun (and highly addictive). If you want to check out one of her workshops, you can find out more and sign up here. She has two dates coming up on Tuesday, April 4, 7-10 CST and Saturday, April 8, 12-3 CST.

Want to be Scraptastic?

I love all things scrappy, so it’s no surprise I’m a fan of Shannon Brinkley’s Scrappy Applique technique. Our guild was lucky enough to host her for a lecture and workshop last year. It was such a fun technique! I made this!! Making it was the fun part…now I must quilt it.

And she just told me she’s offering online workshops! There are two coming up. The first is this Saturday, the 24th and then another one September 27. You can get all the details and register here. I’m hoping to join in some on Tuesday! Even though I’ve done her workshop before, there’s always something to learn. And the good news is that you don’t have to choose, once you sign up, you can go to either or both!

Shannon’s also hosting a quilt along for all her skylines. I’m going to make Austin as a present for my best friend! You can check the patterns here and over on Instagram using the hashtag #scrappyskylinequiltalong.

There will be prizes and who doesn’t love prizes. So join in the fun! Shannon’s technique is fun and SCRAPTASTIC!

Terrific Tool Thursday: Misty Fuse

Today’s Terrific Tool is Misty Fuse. Last week, Shannon Brinkley came to North Carolina to teach a Scrappy Bits Appliqué workshop. She’s an avid Misty Fuse user. It’s a thin fine interfacing that’s double sided and can be used in similar instances to Wonder Under and Steam A Seam Lite, but it’s MUCH thinner. So thin, in fact, that I struggled to get a photo.

It leaves the fabric much more pliable! I’m sold:)

Modern Applique Coming to NC

I met Shannon Brinkley at Quilt Market a few markets ago and she was there promoting her book Scrappy Bits Appliqué. I thought it was a cool technique and we invited her to come visit the Triad MQG. I’m always excited when someone awesome is coming to North Carolina to teach quilty things! She will be doing a lecture/trunk show on March 22 at 6:30. We meet at South Fork Community Center on Country Club. Because she’s coming from out of town, there is a $5 charge.
